At Metropolitan Dental Centre, we believe that your dentistry should be between yourself and your dentist. You should be able to get the services you need without carrier restrictions. For this reason, we are not contracted in-network with insurance carriers.

Although we are not considered in-network insurance providers, we accept all insurances and file claims for services as a courtesy to our patients. This courtesy is designed to help with any reimbursement you’re entitled to following dental care with us.

We can help you maximize your benefits by considering the services you need based on the insurance benefits you’re entitled to. A member of our team can help you sift through the insurance jargon to truly understand the entitlements and restrictions under your plan, including reimbursement, and we will move forward with the treatment accordingly.

In our dental office, we will always break down your costs and financial obligations before we start treatment.

Your dentist has partnered with CareCredit as well. This interest-free credit card allows you to pay for services over time. A friendly staff member can help you apply online. The process is simple, and decisions typically arrive within minutes.

If you have any questions about insurance or your financial obligation, contact Metropolitan Dental Centre today.

If you have avoided dental care because of anxiety, we can help. At Metropolitan Dental Centre, we believe that dental care should not make patients feel anxious. We believe in patience and gentleness to see even the most skittish patients through their dental treatments.

Our compassionate dentist and her team work hard to create a warm and relaxing environment for every patient. We offer neck pillows, cozy blankets, and even oral sedation dentistry for those who need a little extra reassurance.

Oral sedation dentistry in Fairfax, VA means you take a pill before your dental procedure—typically a few hours prior. You will be able to respond to commands from your dentist in Fairfax, VA, but you may not remember your appointment or treatment.

With oral sedation dentistry, you will be closely monitored throughout treatment and will need a friend or family member to drive you to and from your dental appointment. We suggest resting after your treatment and not making any life-altering decisions for the rest of the day.

Your dentist in Fairfax, VA wants you to get the dental treatments you deserve and never wants anxiety to stand in the way.

If you have questions about oral sedation dentistry in Fairfax, VA, we encourage you to get in touch with our dental office.

General Dentistry

Root Canal Therapy has gotten a bad reputation over the years! We're sure you've heard an adage about how terrible they can be - but please let us ease your fears! Root canal therapy is often carried out due to an infection in a tooth. While the infection can often be painful, the therapy to treat it is not! When root canal therapy is performed the entire area is first treated with local anesthetic - which thoroughly numbs the tooth and takes away all pain. Throughout the procedure Dr. Hulver checks in to make sure the tooth is completely numb and pain-free. If you are still anxious about this procedure, our office also offers oral conscious sedation, which makes the entire procedure much more relaxed. If you are in pain and in need of a root canal, please don't hesitate to give our office a call!

Laser dentistry is utilized in many ways throughout the dental field. The laser delivers energy in the form of light. Depending on the intended result, the energy travels at different wavelengths and is absorbed by a "target." In dentistry, these targets can be enamel, decay, gum tissue, or whitening enhancers. Each one absorbs a different wavelength of light while reflecting others. Laser dentistry can be used for both tooth and soft tissue related procedures. For soft tissue (surgical) procedures it eliminates the need for suturing and healing is much faster.

How We Use Laser Dentistry in Fairfax, VA

In our practice, we utilize a diode laser - most often used in soft tissue procedures. This could mean removing any excess gum tissue around a tooth, or perhaps eliminating a deep periodontal pocket. We often use laser therapy in addition to deep cleanings around teeth to help resolve more advanced gum disease. If you're being seen for cosmetic procedures, Dr. Hulver will often use the laser to sculpt the gum tissue to give the most esthetic result.

The laser is used nearly every day in our practice, and is one of our most valuable tools! To book an appointment with us, call our dental office today!

Both dental crowns and veneers are restorative treatment options to change the appearance and stability of a tooth. Veneers are always made of either porcelain or zirconium, while crowns can be made of porcelain, zirconium, gold or other metal. The biggest difference between a crown and veneer is the amount of tooth structure it covers. A crown will typically cover the entire outer surface of a tooth, while a veneer only covers a portion. Both options require removing a portion of the outer layer of tooth structure for proper fit.

The Benefits of Veneers

If you simply want to change the appearance of your teeth, without needing increased stability or structural work - veneers would likely be your best option. Porcelain veneers are the gold standard in full cosmetic dental makeovers.

Cosmetic Dentistry in Fairfax, VA

Dr. Caitlin S. Hulver is experienced in determining which treatment option will best serve each patient, and each situation.   Most often a combination of porcelain veneers, crowns, and other restorative treatment are used to give our patients the smile they have dreamed of. Give us a call if you want to rejuvenate your smile!

Invisalign

If your teeth are not as straight as you would like, but you do not want metal and wire braces detracting from your smile or weighing down your mouth, Invisalign in Fairfax, VA represents a fantastic alternative.

Invisalign is a series of clear, plastic aligners taken from an impression of your smile. These aligners are virtually invisible and designed for your comfort.

It starts with an exam in our dental office. If Dr. Caitlin Hulver, your dentist in Fairfax, VA, determines that Invisalign will work well to improve your smile aesthetics, we take an impression of your mouth, and Invisalign relies on the impression to create your custom aligners.

Approximately every two weeks, you change your aligner to gradually straighten your smile. You can remove your aligner when eating, brushing, and flossing, making this system a practical alternative to metal braces that are not removable.

Following therapy with Invisalign, your dentist provides a custom retainer to help keep your teeth in their new straight positions.

If you would like to learn more about Invisalign, or if you have questions about clear orthodontics, contact a member of our helpful support team today.

We look forward to speaking with you.

Cosmetic Dentistry

Often patients take great care of their teeth, but they simply are not happy with the appearance of their smile. It may be that teeth are not white enough or straight enough. We offer cosmetic dentistry in Fairfax, VA to help you achieve your best smile.

At Metropolitan Dental Centre, we offer:

Tooth-colored fillings and bonding

  • Dental veneers
  • Teeth whitening
  • Invisalign
  • Dental implants

The first step is an exam in our Fairfax, VA dental office. Dr. Caitlin Hulver will let you know if the tooth replacement option you’ve chosen is right for you.

Following cosmetic dentistry, a member of our team will tell you how to care for your cosmetic dentistry and keep your new smile in optimal condition.

Invisalign, for example, requires a custom retainer following therapy to help keep teeth in their correct positions. Dental implants, on the other hand, require no special care other than the maintenance you use on natural teeth—brushing, flossing, and visiting the dentist twice yearly for exams and teeth cleanings.

At Metropolitan Dental Centre, we want you to get the most out of your new smile.

If you’re considering cosmetic dentistry, schedule an exam today. Also, get in touch with us if you would like more information about our cosmetic dentistry options.

Dental Implants

Missing teeth can make laughing and smiling difficult. It can even change your dietary choices and the way you speak. At Metropolitan Dental Centre, your dentist in Fairfax, VA offers a variety of tooth replacement options to help you restore your livelihood and your smile.

Our tooth replacement options include:

  • Dentures and partials
  • Dental bridges
  • Dental implants
  • Implant-supported dentures

Dentures and partials in Fairfax, VA are a time-tested solution to tooth loss, and we provide quality, natural-looking dentures in our dental office.

Dental bridges “bridge” the gap in your smile with a replacement tooth or teeth suspended between capped or crowned teeth.

Dental implants in Fairfax, VA replace your tooth and your root, making them the most natural functioning tooth replacement options available.

Implant-supported dentures rely on a few implant posts (four to six) to support a plate of restoration teeth or an implant-supported denture.

An exam with your dentist determines which option is better for your smile and your smile goals.

If you would like to schedule a tooth replacement exam, or if you have questions about our restorative technologies, contact a member of our dental team today.

We look forward to caring for your smile.

Teeth Whitening

If you have a healthy smile but do not like the color of your teeth, we can help. Professional teeth whitening in Fairfax, VA is designed to lift stubborn stains away from teeth—including yellow stains—and restore whiteness.

Teeth discolor for a variety of reasons, including lifestyle choices like smoking, drinking red wine, coffee or tea, and even specific medications. If you decide to use a tooth whitening option with us, a team member can offer tips to help you get the most out of your whiter smile, including the best way to prevent new stains.

At Metropolitan Dental Centre, we offer two professional teeth whitening options in Fairfax, VA.

  • At-home teeth whitening

Our in-office teeth bleaching option may be faster than the take-home method, making it ideal if you have a wedding or other event right around the corner.
